CSC Recognized in LEED v5 Building Product Selection & Procurement Credit – Enabling Concrete to Achieve a Multi-Attribute Score of up to 5

March 6, 2026

The Concrete Sustainability Council Certification has been officially recognized in LEED v5 under the Materials & Resources Credit: Building Product Selection & Procurement (BPSP).

CSC is the leading global certification system for responsible sourcing in the concrete sector, promoting transparency, environmental performance, and social responsibility across the concrete value chain. This recognition reflects CSC’s strong framework addressing responsible sourcing, supply chain due diligence, and climate transparency.

This recognition was approved by the U.S. Green Building Council LEED Steering Committee and published in the LEED v5 addenda on 24 February 2026.

The new LEED v5 credit introduces a multi-attribute framework evaluating building products across five sustainability criteria areas: human health, climate health, ecosystem health, social health & equity, and circular economy.

Within this framework, products receive a Multi-Attribute Score (MAS) reflecting their sustainability performance.

CSC Contribution to LEED v5

Concrete supplied from CSC-certified plants contributes to several sustainability criteria:

CSC Bronze certification: MAS 1

CSC Silver certification: MAS 2

CSC Gold or Platinum certification: MAS 3

Concrete mixes including the CSC CO₂ Module provide additional climate-related scoring:

CO₂ Module – 1 Star: MAS 1

CO₂ Module – 2–4 Stars: MAS 2

Combined, CSC-certified concrete with a strong CO₂ Module score can achieve the maximum Multi-Attribute Score of 5 in LEED v5.

Structural Materials

The Building Product Selection & Procurement credit introduces a new multi-attribute framework for evaluating the sustainability performance of building materials in LEED v5.

This framework is also referenced in the Multi-Attribute Structure, Enclosure, Hardscape, and Other Building Materials, which applies the same methodology to structural materials.

Through this pilot credit, CSC-certified concrete can also contribute to LEED v5 projects through core structural elements, enabling project teams to recognize responsible sourcing and carbon transparency in concrete. Projects can achieve up to two LEED points through this pathway
