The Alpacem Group companies from Slovenia, which specialise in the production of cement, stone aggregates, concrete and concrete products, are the first in the country to receive the prestigious silver certificate awarded by the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC). This confirms their sustainable and responsible operations in the construction industry
The certificate was awarded to Alpacem Cement, d.d., Alpacem Kamnolomi, d.o.o., which operates in Solkan, Črnotiče, and Vrbovo, and Alpacem Beton, d.o.o., with plants in Dekani and Solkan.
CSC – Concrete Sustainability Council is a globally recognized, independent certification system designed to verify the sustainability performance of companies throughout the concrete supply chain – from raw material extraction and cement production to concrete manufacturing and delivery. Certification, which is voluntary, promotes environmental, social, and economic responsibility in the construction industry. Therefore, in times of climate change and increasing expectations regarding the sustainable operation of companies, it represents an important and concrete step towards responsible business.
The CSC certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. Its acquisition is based on a strict assessment of various sustainability criteria, such as: sustainable use of raw materials and protection of the environment and nature, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources, reduction of CO₂ emissions, safety and health of employees, sustainable transport, respect for employee rights, equality and ethical conduct, respect for biodiversity, transparent reporting and cooperation with the local community, and raising public awareness of the importance of sustainable construction.
“We are proud to be the first in Slovenia to receive the silver CSC certificate. This is recognition of the long-standing work of our teams from all three companies and a clear signal that we not only follow sustainable guidelines, but also actively incorporate them into our business strategies. We are aware that the construction industry has a key role to play in the transition to a sustainable future, which is why we want our activities to contribute to broader environmental and social goals,” emphasizes Dr. Tomaž Vuk, President of the Management Board of Alpacem Cement, d.d.
Alpacem has had certified quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems in place for many years, in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards for the production of cement and aggregates. The CSC certificate represents an important upgrade of existing systems in the direction of sustainable, socially important issues that will shape society and companies in the future.
