CSC Recognized Across Multiple Credits in the Mostadam Addendum 2024

December 17, 2025

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is pleased to announce that CSC certification has been officially recognized across several credits in the Mostadam Addendum 2024 (REV005), Saudi Arabia’s national sustainability rating system for the built environment. This recognition marks an important milestone for CSC’s global mission to promote responsible sourcing and sustainability within the concrete industry. It strengthens the alignment between CSC’s certification framework and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives to advance sustainable construction and resource efficiency.

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is widely recognized by leading green building certification schemes for its rigorous approach to sustainable concrete. Notably, CSC-certified products contribute to credits in major labels such as LEED, BREEAM, Envision and DGNB, underscoring the industry’s trust in its methodology. The recent recognition of CSC at Mostadam further reinforces this credibility, highlighting its growing influence in advancing sustainable construction practices globally

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is the only global certification system dedicated to the responsible sourcing of concrete and its main components—cement and aggregates. Through its certification scheme, CSC promotes transparency, circular economy practices, and continuous improvement across the concrete value chain. The certification assesses and verifies producers against robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, including the implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Sustainable Procurement Policies, the publication of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), the use of recycled aggregates and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and the promotion of community engagement, ethical labor practices, and climate action measures. The CSC CO₂ Module encourages verified reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in concrete products, while the R-Module rewards the use of recycled and reused materials, fostering circularity in the built environment. CSC certification is available at Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, with higher levels demonstrating stronger sustainability performance and CO₂ reduction commitments.

In the Mostadam Commercial D+C manual, CSC is recognized under SA-07 (Recycled Aggregates, Alternative Path 2) for its R-Module approach to verifying recycled and reused materials in concrete, under MW-06 (Life Cycle Assessment) for supporting transparent life cycle performance data, and under PMM-02 (Sustainable Procurement) where CSC Certificates and the CO₂ Module are explicitly acknowledged as credible evidence for sustainable procurement compliance and GHG emission reduction.

In the Mostadam Residential D+C manual, CSC is referenced under MW-03 (Recycled Materials, section b) and under Sustainable Procurement, where CSC Certificates are accepted as proof of responsible sourcing practices, confirming the system’s role in enabling sustainable material choices and supporting circular construction at the residential scale.

In the Mostadam Communities D+C manual, CSC appears under SA-07 (Sustainable Materials, Alternative Path 2) for its contribution to the verification of recycled and reused materials through the R-Module, and under MO-05 (Sustainable Procurement), where CSC is recognized as supporting compliance with Mostadam’s procurement requirements through certified responsible sourcing practices and GHG reduction measures.

These multiple recognitions represent a significant step forward for the integration of international certification systems into regional sustainability frameworks. CSC-certified suppliers and products can now directly support projects pursuing Mostadam certification, helping drive sustainable material sourcing, carbon reduction, and circular construction practices across the Kingdom.
