At this year’s colloquium “Research & Development for Cement and Concrete” organized by the Association of the Austrian Cement Industry (VÖZ),the Austrian Ready-Mixed Concrete Association (GVTB – Güteverband Transportbeton), as the regional system operator, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC). With over 300 participants from the Austrian cement and concrete sector, this annual event is one of the country’s most important industry gatherings, and the GVTB’s presentation proved to be a key driver toward sustainability.
During the presentation, the GVTB introduced its role as the Regional System Operator (RSO) for the CSC in Austria, a function the association has held for two years. The focus of the talk was on explaining the CSC system in detail, the significance of certification for the industry, and the development of the program in Austria. It was particularly emphasized that the CSC is an internationally recognized certification system that evaluates and certifies the entire value chain—from cement production through aggregates to ready-mixed concrete—in a holistic manner.
With this presentation, the GVTB achieved another important milestone. Participants gained not only a deeper understanding of the functioning and objectives of the CSC system but also concrete insights into how this instrument helps make sustainability achievements visible and verifiable.
