INTERBETON Building Materials S.A., member of the TITAN Group, becomes the first company in the Southeastern part of the European Union and in Greece to achieve the internationally recognized CSC certification for ready-mix concrete produced at its plants in Metamorfosi and The Ellinikon Metropolitan Hub in Attica, and in Efkarpia, Thessaloniki.
The CSC certification is awarded by the Concrete Sustainability Council, a globally recognized non-profit organization. In advanced markets, “CSC Responsibly Sourced” ready-mix concrete is specified in major real estate projects, is a prerequisite for procurement in sustainable public works, supports more favorable investment financing terms, and is recognized by leading green building certification systems such as BREEAM, LEED and DGNB.
For INTERBETON, the CSC certification marks a significant milestone, as the company now offers concrete with certified sustainability practices far beyond the minimum requirements of national regulations. CSC-certified concrete underscores INTERBETON’s strategic commitment to sustainability and responsible production, linking the company to key UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The certification confirms high standards of health and safety, responsible labor practices and transparency, local economic development, innovation and infrastructure resilience, as well as circular production practices. At the same time, it strengthens ESG performance ratings, prepares major real estate projects for the growing requirements of EU Directive 2024/1275 on reducing the carbon footprint of new buildings, and mitigates investment risk—positioning INTERBETON as a reliable partner providing sustainable, high-performance solutions.
The CSC certification was awarded to INTERBETON by Mr. Ioannis Karagiannis, CEO of Business Quality Verification (BQV), at a ceremony held at the Ellinikon plant, attended by executives from INTERBETON and LAMDA Development. In his speech, he emphasized: “The CSC certification shows the path to the future of construction—environmentally and socially responsible, competitive, and with lasting value, in Greece and internationally.”
Mr. Andreas Kapsalis, Chief Programme Execution Officer of LAMDA Development, also stated: “The CSC certification of the plant at the Ellinikon Metropolitan Hub is a milestone for our vision: The Ellinikon as a global model of sustainable development and quality of life. This recognition ensures that INTERBETON’s ready-mix concrete comes from a responsible supply chain, is recognized by international standards such as LEED, BREEAM and DGNB, and enhances the reputation of all parties across the value chain. I congratulate the INTERBETON team for their ongoing certifications, which highlight the company as an industry benchmark and strategic partner in the redevelopment of the Metropolitan Hub. We share common values: sustainability, transparency, innovation. Together, we are building a world-class destination that honors the present and inspires the future.”
INTERBETON’s CEO, Mr. Christoforos Voulgaris, noted:
“The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) certification is today the most comprehensive green identity in ready-mix concrete. It strengthens our commitment to sustainability, aligns our strategy with European climate goals, and reaffirms INTERBETON’s role as a trusted partner in guiding the Greek market towards greener, more resilient, and innovative projects.”
