CSC Certification Showcased at Cemento & Concreto Verde 2050 in Ecuador

June 2, 2025

he Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) was featured during the recent Cemento & Concreto Verde 2050 event, organized by FICEM – la Federación Interamericana del Cemento. Held in Quito, Ecuador, the event brought together key stakeholders from across Latin America to discuss low-carbon strategies and sustainable innovation in cement and concrete.

Representing CSC, Gustavo Beltrán delivered a presentation titled:
“Oportunidades y desafíos con los materiales de concreto de bajo carbono: la certificación CSC en acción.”

In his session, Mr. Beltrán highlighted how CSC certification is actively supporting the decarbonization of the concrete supply chain across the region. With a growing number of certified plants — over 14 to date in Latin America — the CSC system is reinforcing traceability, transparency, and improved environmental performance from raw materials to ready-mix concrete.

The certification addresses a wide range of sustainability criteria, including CO₂ reduction, responsible sourcing, circular economy, labour rights, and community engagement. Furthermore, it provides added value by contributing points to internationally recognized schemes such as LEED (Pilot credit) and Envision, making it a valuable tool for public and private stakeholders seeking to align with both global goals and local realities.

The CSC thanks FICEM for the opportunity to contribute to such a vital dialogue and remains committed to supporting sustainability leadership throughout the Americas.
