We are proud to announce that Manuel Lascarro, General Director of the Colombian Chamber of Cement and Concrete (PROCEMCO), and a member of the Concrete Sustainability Council’s (CSC) Executive Committee, has been honored with ASTM International’s 2024 William T. Cavanaugh Award.
This prestigious award, presented recently in Cartagena, Colombia, recognizes Lascarro’s outstanding contributions to advancing standards in the concrete industry and his steadfast support of ASTM’s global initiatives.
The William T. Cavanaugh Memorial Award commemorates the visionary leadership of W.T. Cavanaugh, who served as ASTM International’s CEO from 1970 to 1985, establishing the organization as a leader in voluntary standards development.
Lascarro has been an active participant in ASTM since 2003, contributing to its Concrete and Concrete Aggregates Committee (C09) and Sustainability Committee (E60). His leadership extended to ASTM’s Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008. Over the years, his dedication has been recognized with the C09 Award of Appreciation (2011) and ASTM’s Board Service Award (2008).
Throughout his career, Lascarro has championed ASTM standards in Colombia and across Latin America, fostering collaboration with ICONTEC, Colombia’s national standards body, and promoting sustainable economic growth through rigorous standards. His efforts exemplify ASTM’s mission and reinforce the importance of sustainable practices in developing economies.
The CSC congratulates Manuel Lascarro on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to his continued contributions to advancing sustainability in the concrete sector as a member of the Executive Committee.
