First CSC Certification in Ireland

October 17, 2024

Irish Cement Ltd has become the first company in Ireland to receive the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) certification. This milestone underscores Irish Cement’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance.

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) recently awarded certificates to the two Irish Cement factories, Platin (Gold) and Limerick (Silver). This recognition highlights the company’s dedication to evaluating and enhancing its sustainability performance across all business areas.

Ray Molyneaux, Managing Director of Irish Cement, commented on the achievement:

“We are delighted in Irish Cement to have achieved certification from the Concrete Sustainability Council. Working closely with our customers in the concrete industry, we know the increasing importance of measuring and reporting on all aspects of sustainability – environmental, social, and governance. The CSC certificate is a valuable assessment tool, which helps us to identify our strengths and areas for improvement and the link between CSC certification and building level sustainability standards like LEED and BREEAM is particularly welcome as we work to enhance cement and concrete sustainability with our customers.

Sustainability is at the heart of Irish Cement’s operations. Achieving CSC certification is an acknowledgement of the great work by our teams in both Platin and Limerick and I would like to thank them for their enormous effort in ensuring Irish Cement continues to manufacture the highest quality cement in our market.”

This landmark achievement by Irish Cement is expected to inspire other companies in Ireland to examine the benefits of successfully achieving certification from the Concrete Sustainability Council.
