The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is pleased to announce the addition of Oö. Boden- und Baustoffprüfstelle GmbH (BPS) as a new Certification Body, marking a significant step in expanding our presence in Austria. BPS has been a prominent player in the testing, inspection, and certification of construction products for decades, with a strong focus on aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, precast concrete, and reinforced concrete elements.
As environmental considerations increasingly influence the construction industry, BPS has recognized the importance of sustainability alongside traditional requirements such as strength and durability. Responding to client and industry demands for sustainable practices, BPS has extensively researched ways to incorporate CO2 reduction and circular economy principles into their certification processes.
“During our research, we came across CSC certification via the national system provider in Austria and were quickly convinced of the benefits of such certification,” said Erwin Rockenschaub, CEO of BPS . “Manufacturers can use these assessment criteria to prove that they are aligning their production and supply chains with social, economic, and ecological aspects and are therefore producing sustainably.”
The CSC certification program, with its well-structured levels ranging from Bronze to Platinum, allows manufacturers to clearly demonstrate their sustainability efforts. This system is designed to be accessible and comprehensible for all stakeholders, providing a transparent and reliable measure of sustainability performance.
“As a certification body, we particularly like the well-structured certification program with the levels ‘Bronze’ to ‘Platinum’, which is accessible to everyone. This makes it quick and easy for all those involved as well as outsiders to assess and compare,” Erwin Rockenschaub, added. “In our opinion, this certification system is excellently suited to presenting the topic of sustainability for concrete products, precast concrete parts, and their raw materials on the market in a simple and comprehensible way.”
