Raising the bar for obtaining CSC certification is an important lever to continuously improve responsible sourcing practices. 📜
That is why a new version of the Technical Manual was launched on the 1st January 2024. 🗓
The Technical Manual is where all the Prerequisites and Criteria are detailed, to which companies undergoing the certification must comply with.
Please note the following important information:
📌 Registration for new certification projects according to CSC System Version 2.1 will remain open until December 31st, 2023. No registration will be possible under CSC System Version 2.1 after that date.
📌 Registered projects according to CSC System Version 2.1 will be able to certify under CSC System Version 2.1 until June 30, 2024 (= sunset date). No CSC certification will be possible under CSC System Version 2.1 after that date.
The Technical Manual has been updated following regular discussions held at the level of the CSC Technical Committee. All feedback received from certified companies, Certification Bodies, Regional System Operators, as well as key discussions with Green Building Councils have been taken into account. 📝
Some dedicated workshops were held for areas that needed additional consultation with experts in the sector. Therefore a biodiversity workshop 🌱 was run in 2022 and a Human Rights workshop 👷♂️ in January 2023.
During the Month of May 2023, the Technical committee started reviewing all sections in the Technical Manual and proposed adjustments to make the system more rigorous and to simplify the manual (Removing duplicates and criteria that have proven impractical). 📋
Different stakeholder consultations were run in November with different experts coming from civil society organizations mainly and as well with our advisory committee in order to revise all updates and amendments.
A dedicated Webinar was run by Cynthia Imesch, Christian Artelt, Liliana Lasso de la Vega to present all main changes of the new Technical Manual on December 13th from 9:00 to 10:00 am CET time. Please see below the video of the webinar.
