Rudus receives the Finnish concrete industry’s first CSC certificates

March 10, 2023

The certification process was launched at Rudus in summer 2022. It involved Rudus personnel from the environmental, safety and procurement teams as well as human resources.

Without sustainability, there can be no future. This is true in every kind of activity, and now even more so in construction. Rudus is determined to be a pioneer in sustainability, and the CSC certification is an excellent indication of this,” says Mikko Vasama, Managing Director at Rudus.

The project team set about collecting evidence of compliance with the CSC criteria. This was assessed on the basis of documents uploaded to a separate CSC tool, and by audit visits to the sites.

Kiwa Germany acted as certifier and assessor for the certification in cooperation with Kiwa Finland. Kiwa is one of the world’s largest testing, inspection and certification companies.

The certificates were awarded to Rudus at the end of February 2023.

“Another important purpose of the CSC-Certification is to demonstrate that the company continuously strives to improve its sustainability efforts. Although the criteria are very strict, we were confident we could reach the gold level for our aggregate sites and the silver level for our ready-mixed concrete plants. And that’s exactly what we did,” says Heli Kanto, Environmental Specialist at Rudus.

Mikko Vasama emphasises that the certificates are also useful for Rudus’ customers. “The CSC certificates gives a new kind of visibility to Rudus’ efforts to make its operations increasingly sustainable. With our customers and others, we are transforming the way the world will be built in the future.”
