FIHP held virtual event to hand over first CSC-certificates in Latin America

January 21, 2021

Supported by the Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme of the One Planet network, the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is performing a project that aims at empowering small and medium-sized concrete producers in Latin America to make concrete more sustainable by means of education and by promoting and implementing CSC-certification.

On December 11, 2020, the Ibero-American Federation of Ready-Mix Concrete (FIHP) held a virtual event to present to the general public in Latin America – including authorities, producers and clients – the first 10 CSC-certificates granted in the region. The newly certified plants in Colombia, Guatemala and Panama join the nearly 400 certified plants worldwide.

For FIHP, the regional CSC system operator in Latin America, it is with great pride to see that the first certifications in Latin America were achieved by Cemex, Holcim, Hormigon Express and Mixto Listo amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. The achievement includes the first Gold level concrete plant certificate in Latin America and the first supplier certificate for a cement plant in all the Americas.
